WORKSHOPS & FACILITATION

User needs discovery for a digital scholarship library

I helped a university in New York uncover the lived experiences and needs of their users and how they engage in digital scholarship for their classroom and research projects.

During a series of user engagement workshops among some 100+ participants, I, along with the rest of the strategy team, engaged students, faculty, and staff to define digital scholarship and share how the library can best support their needs. We asked participants to map the types of projects they engage in, their activities along the research cycle, and the services, spaces, and tools that they need for their work.

Findings from the workshops provided a baseline understanding of user needs relative to the library’s offerings and were used to inform the final recommendation of space types of the library.
